The Anson County Sheriff’s Office currently has three (3) canines in its K-9 Unit. They are fairly young dogs, but have a lot of experience. The unit includes one German Shepherd, one Belgian Malinois, and one Bloodhound.
The German Shepard and Belgian Malinois are multi-trained in drug detection, evidence retrieval, tracking, apprehension and officer protection. The bloodhound is trained exclusively in tracking and is primarily used in the search for missing persons.
These dogs are available 24/7 to assist Sheriff’s Deputies and any other law enforcement agency in the area.
